Yes. One of the unique advantages of fishing with Salt Cracker Charters is our catch-and-cook experience. After your charter, we'll clean and fillet your fish so you can take it to the nearby Salt Cracker Fish Camp, where the restaurant can prepare your fresh catch for lunch or dinner.

A four-hour Clearwater fishing charter is a good starting point for families, children and first-time anglers. A six-hour trip gives the crew more time to try different areas, while eight, 10 and 12-hour trips provide better access to deeper Gulf waters.

If you want to target Red Grouper, an eight-hour trip is a solid choice. We generally recommend at least 10 hours when Red Snapper is the main goal because productive fishing grounds may be much farther offshore. Yes. Salt Cracker Charters operates 34-foot Crusader sportfishing boats with enclosed pilothouses, shade and full private restrooms. The enclosed cabin also gives guests a place to sit and get out of the sun or weather during the ride.

Both boats carry modern fishing electronics, required safety equipment and the gear needed for fishing the Gulf of Mexico off Clearwater Beach.

Bring food, drinks, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and a camera. A light jacket is also useful during early morning trips and cooler months.

Salt Cracker Charters provides the rods, reels, bait, tackle, fishing licenses and a cooler stocked with ice. Pack lightly and bring only what you expect to use during the trip.

Guests who are prone to motion sickness should speak with a pharmacist before the trip and follow the directions for any recommended medication. Many seasickness products need to be taken before the boat leaves the dock.

The distance depends on the charter length, weather, season and fish being targeted. Some reefs, wrecks and hard-bottom areas are relatively close to Clearwater Beach. Red Snapper and other deep-water species can require a much longer run into the Gulf.

No captain can guarantee a particular species. Water temperature, bait movement, weather, fishing pressure and current regulations all affect the day’s options. No. Many Gulf fish are regulated by season, size and daily bag limits. Some fish must be released, even when they appear large enough to keep.

The Salt Cracker Charters crew checks the species and measures regulated fish before placing them in the cooler. Undersized, out-of-season and protected fish are released according to current handling requirements. Because regulations can change, check the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s saltwater regulations when planning a trip around a specific species.
