Catching your own dinner is one thing. Walking off the boat and having a nearby restaurant prepare that fish while it’s still fresh is a completely different experience.
The partnership between Salt Cracker Charters and Salt Cracker Fish Camp brings the two parts together. You fish the Gulf of Mexico with our charter crew, we clean and fillet your legal catch at the dock, and Salt Cracker Fish Camp can cook it for your group.
There’s no cooler sitting in the car while you search for a restaurant. There’s no question about what to do with the fish once the trip is over. You catch it, we clean it, and the Fish Camp cooks it.
From a Clearwater Fishing Charter to the Dinner Table
Your catch-and-cook day begins aboard a private Salt Cracker fishing charter departing from Clearwater Beach Marina. Each trip is reserved for your group of up to six guests.
The captain chooses fishing areas based on the season, weather, Gulf conditions, recent catches, and the species your group wants to pursue. Depending on the trip, you may fish natural hard bottom, reefs, rock piles, wrecks, ledges, or open water.
When the boat returns to the marina, the crew cleans and fillets the fish that can legally be kept. From there, you can bring the prepared fillets to Salt Cracker Fish Camp, located by the marina, and ask the restaurant to cook your catch.
It’s one connected Clearwater experience, from the first bait in the water to the last bite at the table.
The Salt Cracker Charters and Salt Cracker Fish Camp Partnership
Salt Cracker Charters and Salt Cracker Fish Camp share more than a name. The charter boats bring guests onto the Gulf, while the restaurant gives them a practical way to enjoy the fish they caught.
Salt Cracker Fish Camp’s connection to local fishing runs through its menu and its relationship with Salt Cracker Charters. The restaurant serves fresh-off-the-boat seafood and works with the charter operation to bring grouper, snapper, amberjack, and other Gulf fish from the boats to the kitchen.
For charter guests, the partnership keeps the day simple. The crew handles the fishing equipment and cleans the catch. The restaurant takes over from there and turns it into a meal.
Salt Cracker Fish Camp is part of Baystar Restaurant Group and serves Southern dockside cooking in Clearwater Beach. Visit the Salt Cracker Fish Camp website for current hours, menus, and restaurant information.
What Fish Can We Catch and Cook?
The available species depend on the time of year, fishing regulations, weather, water temperature, and length of the charter. Possible catches include grouper, snapper, hogfish, kingfish, Spanish mackerel, amberjack, and other Gulf species.
Some fish are found relatively close to Clearwater Beach. Others require a longer offshore run. If your group wants a particular species for dinner, tell us before booking so we can explain the season, recent fishing, and recommended trip length.

Catching a fish doesn’t automatically mean it can go home. The crew follows current state and federal regulations, including seasons, size limits, and bag limits. Fish that can’t legally be kept will be handled according to current requirements and released.

Fresh Fish Without the Guesswork
People often love the idea of keeping their catch until they realize they need to clean it, pack it, keep it cold, and find a way to cook it. That’s a lot to figure out after several hours on the Gulf.
Salt Cracker’s catch-and-cook setup removes most of that trouble. The charter crew cleans and fillets the fish at the dock. Salt Cracker Fish Camp can then prepare it while your group settles in for a waterfront meal.
The fish hasn’t spent days traveling through distributors and storage facilities. You know where it came from because you were standing on the boat when it was caught.
A Good Fit for Families
The catch-and-cook experience is especially good for families. Children get to see the entire process instead of treating fishing and dinner as two unrelated parts of the day.
They watch the bait go into the water, feel the fish pull, see it come aboard, and later sit down to eat it. Even children who don’t fish the entire trip tend to remember who caught dinner.
Our private charters allow the crew to work directly with children and first-time guests. We provide the equipment and help with baiting, fighting fish, and safely bringing the catch aboard.
Visit our Family Fishing Charters Clearwater page for more information about planning a trip with children.
Planning Your Meal at Salt Cracker Fish Camp
Salt Cracker Fish Camp is located at 25 Causeway Boulevard in Clearwater Beach, the same address as Clearwater Beach Marina. The charter boats are located just outside the restaurant area.
Restaurant hours and fish-preparation options may change. Check the Salt Cracker Fish Camp website or contact the restaurant before your trip if the meal is a central part of your plans.
The restaurant’s preparation charge is separate from the charter price. Your captain and mate clean the legal catch as part of the fishing trip, while the restaurant handles the cooking and meal service.
