Salt Cracker Charters offers private family fishing charters from Clearwater Beach Marina for groups of up to six people. We provide the boat, captain, mate, bait, tackle, fishing licenses, ice, and help throughout the trip. You bring your family, food, drinks, sun protection, and a camera.

Some children step aboard ready to fish all day. Others need a little help holding the rod and aren’t quite sure about touching the bait. That’s fine. Our crew works with beginners, experienced anglers, and families whose skill levels are all over the place.

A Private Clearwater Fishing Trip for Your Family

Every private Salt Cracker fishing charter is reserved for your group. You won’t be placed on a boat with another family or squeezed onto a crowded party boat.

That gives us room to adjust the trip around your family. If someone needs more instruction, we’ll help. If an experienced angler wants to do more on their own, that’s fine too. The goal is to get everyone involved without turning the day into a lesson nobody asked for.

Our family fishing charters depart from Clearwater Beach Marina at 25 Causeway Boulevard. The marina is close to Clearwater Beach hotels, restaurants, and other attractions, so you won’t need to burn half the morning driving to some out-of-the-way dock.

Family Fishing for Beginners and Experienced Anglers

You don’t need fishing experience to book a family charter. We regularly work with first-time fishermen and children catching their first saltwater fish.

Your captain and mate will handle the equipment, bait, and fishing setup. They’ll show your family how to use the rods and help when a fish gets close to the boat. Parents can fish too, instead of spending the whole trip untangling lines and rebaiting hooks.

Experienced guests aren’t ignored. Clearwater’s Gulf waters offer different fishing opportunities throughout the year, and the crew adjusts the day based on conditions, seasonal fish movement, and what your family wants from the trip.

Depending on the season, your family may encounter grouper, snapper, kingfish, Spanish mackerel, amberjack, shark, and other Gulf species. Fish species and catch limits change, so we never promise a particular fish before leaving the dock. Check out our recent fishing reports to see what’s biting.

Comfortable Boats for a Day With the Kids

A little comfort goes a long way when you’re fishing with children. Salt Cracker’s 34-foot Crusader sportfishing boats have enclosed cabins that provide shade and a place to get out of the weather. They also have private onboard restrooms.

The boats carry the required safety equipment and are professionally maintained. Fishing gear, bait, tackle, licenses, and ice are provided, so you don’t need to pack your garage for a few hours on the Gulf.

Each boat carries no more than six guests. That keeps the trip personal and gives the crew time to help each person instead of managing a crowd.

Your Clearwater family fishing charter includes:

A private 34-foot sportfishing boat for up to six guests
An experienced captain and mate
Rods, reels, bait, and tackle
Fishing licenses for everyone aboard
A cooler with ice
Help for children and first-time anglers
Cleaning and filleting of your legal catch after the trip

Food and drinks aren’t included. Bring whatever your family likes, along with sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and comfortable clothing. Soft-soled, non-slip shoes are a good choice on the boat.

If anyone in your group is prone to motion sickness, talk with a doctor or pharmacist before the trip. It’s usually better to prepare before leaving the marina than to find out offshore that somebody doesn’t feel well.

My son Tyler is now six, and he has literally been talking about fishing with Captain Nick for the past year. Captain Nick has become one of his favorite people, and getting back out on the boat with him was something Tyler had really been looking forward to.

Nick has always been incredibly easy to work with, accommodating with scheduling, and just genuinely great with kids. He has a way of treating Tyler almost like one of his own, making sure he is involved, having fun, and getting the most out of the entire experience. As a parent, that means a lot.

From the Boat to the Dinner Table

Catching dinner is one of the best parts of a family fishing trip. When you return to Clearwater Beach Marina, we’ll clean and fillet any legal fish you decide to keep.

Salt Cracker Fish Camp is located nearby, so you can ask the restaurant to prepare your fresh catch for lunch or dinner. The kids get to tell everyone exactly who caught what, and you get a meal with a better story behind it than anything ordered from a menu.

Choosing the Right Trip Length for Your Family

Families don’t all fish the same way. A shorter trip can be a good starting point for younger children or anyone who has never spent much time on a boat. A longer trip gives the captain more time to reach different fishing areas and try additional techniques.

Tell us the ages of the children, the group’s fishing experience, and what kind of day you have in mind. We’ll help you choose a trip that fits your family instead of automatically pushing you toward the longest option.

Weather and Gulf conditions are part of the decision too. The captain monitors the forecast and makes the final call based on safety and the conditions expected on the water.
